I think that's just the really strong winds affecting it.
Good call. I never considered that, however, due to the power loss that typically occurs with an approaching tornado...it could be the backup battery doing it's thing.

Linwood, KS Tornado May 28, 2019 (2001-130 issue)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM5b0r-QCwk **Disclaimer: This is not my video.** Also, turn down your volume! The Federal Signal siren model heard in is video is a 2001-130, which was installed sometime last year. Most of us are aware of the known "sound pitch variation" issue with that p...

Re: Trip to Kansas City, Missouri

Does WYCO still have any Thunderbolts? Wyandotte County completely removed all of their old sirens (with the exception of the Thunderbolt ontop the WYCO Courthouse) but I don't think it's active anymore as a 2001 is a few blocks away. Wyandotte County has a huge system of 2001s and I recently withi...

Re: Pleasant Valley, MO Siren bites the dust

Update: I drove by our fire station earlier today and was pleasantly surprised to see that the 2T22 was gone, and a brand new 2001-130 was in it's place. I guess BVPS had loaned us the 2T22 while the new siren was on order.

Re: Pleasant Valley, MO Siren bites the dust

You must be new here... http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/150989_511564088865710_70681492_n.jpg ^It's going up, not coming down^ Nice refurb! The one they put up in Pleasant Valley looks quite dated. If they're able to get several years of good use out of it...great! It's just not typical ...

Re: Pleasant Valley, MO Siren bites the dust

Well, the Thunderbeam was replaced, but not with anything brand spankin' new. Instead, they put up a 2T22. I would've snapped a pic, but traffic prevented that from happening. Replacing a cold war-era siren with another cold war-era siren...yeah, that makes sense

I sure hope not. Hasn't Blue Valley been installing 508s lately?
They've been selling more 2001-130 and Eclipse sirens than 508s.

Re: Pleasant Valley, MO Siren bites the dust

If i recall correctly, Pleasant Valley is just north of Claycomo. Much of Claycomo and the surrounding area (read: KC Metro) are mostly federal sirens. I wouldn't be too surprised to seeing them go with federal as well. However, I would not be in the least bit amazed seeing them go with an electron...
