I think it 's a sensor array of some kind.

They can be spec'd for the UV on special order, as well.

I believe you might be thinking about the Model 2 in St Francis, or the Whelen 3016 in Madawaska. I checked the Maine map, and Portland was the only place with a Thunderbolt. There are 3 more sirens in Portland according to an old news article, but they're not listed on the Maine map. Who knows, it...
