Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I've heard that the 2001 on Butler Warren next to Trinity Church replaced a Thunderbolt that covered Voice Of America Metropark, since it used to be a military base decades ago. This could be a rumor, since I haven't found many records about it.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Interesting. I wonder if Deerfield Township's 2001-SRN will be part of the upgrade. It's the one at Cottel Park that is up the street from me. If so, I may even try to acquire it. I know it was put in around 1998 before the Blue Ash Tornado of 1999. Federal Field upgraded the controls and battery bo...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I went out to the Massie Township 1003 and noticed 2 things. One: the tilting pole that the siren sits on has been corrected. It's not leaning anymore. 2. It's now pointing northeast instead of southwest like it was last month. Also, I went in behind the fire station to take a look at the 2 Thunder...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Hamilton in Butler County tested today. I heard the 508 on University Boulevard loud and clear. I heard a 1000T as well, but I'm not sure where that one was.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

The Massie Township Thunderbolt 1003 at the Massie Township Fire Department should be operating now if anyone wants to get a video of it. I'm told it keeps tripping a fuse in the breaker occasionally, making it inoperable. I'm not sure why it's doing this, but I'm not shocked since it was installed...

Re: Vintage siren photos thread

Here's a 1953 photo from a newspaper clipping of one of Cincinnati's Thunderbolts being tested for the first time. It was the old 1000T that is on top of Patheon in Reading, Ohio. I'm told that this was the first Thunderbolt installed in Cincinnati, OH.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Someone commented on my YouTube video of the St. Bart’s Church T-128 that the T-128 at Springdale Rd & Hamilton Ave got taken out by a car over a month ago. Yep, gotta hate all of these ANS street side installs. This doesn't surprise me at all since ANS has done a whole lot of unsafe installs. ...

Here's one of me looking up under a 2001 in Warren County, Oh. It's an older SRN with a new rectifier and battery box.
