The thing is, the designer probably will never have to repair or maintain that siren. If you are the one that has to work on it, 2 poles with a platform in between may seem like the best thing since sliced bread. To me, working on a platform is far preferable to leaning against a belt on a pole when...

I learned from the experience, and am pleased to see this siren going to a "good home". Of course, I am now looking for the next one.

Thanks for the help, guys, the 2001SRNB now has a new owner. I'm told it will soon be returned to service in a nearby community.

Re: newbie- just bought a Federal 2001-SRNB, questions

The controller is OK. It appears to be set up for the usual 3 minute steady, wail and fast wail plus a 1 minute steady maybe for testing or ?. So far, so good.

Re: newbie- just bought a Federal 2001-SRNB, questions

I appreciate everyone's concern, but must admit that my "out of jail" comment was more to make the point that I hoped to make a somewhat valid test while limiting the volume a bit than out of any real concern about trouble with the "law". Without going into detail, I do not think...

Re: newbie- just bought a Federal 2001-SRNB, questions

Thanks for the replies, mine is not the Ebay unit. I have not yet tried the control box, rectifier etc., but did apply 24VDC to the "rotor motor" leads and it spun up pretty good with little vibration. The rotation function turns slowly but smoothly on 24V as well. The county I live in has...

newbie- just bought a Federal 2001-SRNB, questions

I bought this thing based on pictures and it is a lot larger than I imagined. Looks to be in pretty good shape, but I have no manual or info on it. What are the common issues with these? Is there any reason I can't spin the motor up on 12 volts as a test method? (maybe that will keep me out of jail)...
