The 3v8 shouldn't be heavy, though. It's a good start, at 108 Db at 100 ft, the sound does carry quite far for its size (I think). But please don't take my word for it.

You might want to check what Siro-Drone type it is, because some types are quiet... and still heavy.

A WWII center had a Gents of Leister siren which had a bomb go off near it and it sustained a massive chunk being blown off the 10 port side and that was cast aluminium. This is why castings went out of fashion for sirens; they shatter when corroded or when a strong force slams it. Nasty! Back to th...

Especially with the cast iron motor case, which is the trouble with those sirens.

The first pic is an Federal Signal STL-10. The second is a Sterling M series(top) and a Fedelcode Model 5/7(bottom).

To add to that, I think that Taco Works Ltd. made the plastics themselves. (the siren rotor, stator, and housing.) They are quite hard to find outside Europe, though, and yes, they ARE very nifty and loud! Mine can be heard a mile or two away!
