Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Sorta an odd test in Hamilton County today... the T-128 at Clough and 8 Mile didn't seem to go off and it also sounded like a couple sirens only went for ~20 seconds. I left my tripod at school so didn't go out and record, but with all the wind I doubt it would've turned out alright.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

It hasn't happened yet, but I can't imagine that a siren head falling onto a car is a pretty sight. That's what worries me most about the way these were installed...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Are the Eclipse 8 and STH 10 the only sirens owned by CVG?

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Was working in Butler County today- don't know what their normal test protocol is, but they did two 3 minute alerts today. Also, on the topic of Hamilton County, didn't they used to test on the first and third Wednesday many years ago? I feel like I remember that happening when I was a little kid. S...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

This is pure speculation, but I assumed that somehow they could import the KMZ files that are released when a warning is issued and overlay that onto the Compulert system. So they would use the actual polygon drawn by the NWS. Like I said though, that's just speculation. Seems like the issue was fix...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

That was sort of a fail in Anderson Twp... we were not near the warning at all- the T-128 at 8-Mile and Clough went off for about 10 seconds, the T-128 at the Beechmont Fire Dept. went off for the full 3 minutes. I guess that was the first tornado warning with the new system... looks like there are ...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Honestly am surprised that it would be located so close to the bleachers in the first place. I guess they wanted to make sure everyone knew if there was a tornado warning during a football game!

Re: This terribly wobbly H.O.R. Siro-Drone in Toledo, Ohio

So the question is- is it omnidirectional or not?

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I was watching a short film called Day of the Killer Tornadoes (which is about the 1974 tornado outbreak), but there's a short segment where they walk through the Sayler Park tornado. They have a sequence where they activate the sirens with a phone, but there's also an old map of the Hamilton County...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Saw today that, according to the Clermont EMA, their sirens sounded 3 different times due to a transmitter malfunction... Wonder what would cause that. They have a two-tone activation and an ASC FSK activation, right? I don't actually know how exactly their system works...
