Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

Oh I've seen this video many years ago, nobody could tell what it was... I guess that solves the mystery to some extent, heh.. But, there's something that bothers me, I've NEVER heard a 7-port siren running in 50Hz, but I know there's the Federal STL-10 that has 7 ports yet sounds like a French air ...

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

There's ought to be a aerial view somewhere, it's still better than nothing.

Maybe the picture in the video is older than the video itself, and that the Reville siren was removed earlier than that?

This looks to be a Federal siren of some sort, I was about to say it's a Model L but the intake looks a bit... off ?

Can't be a Model A or D as the intake is more flared outwards, whereas on this one it looks like it's tapered.

Re: Restored air raid siren with mystery background

I believe this may be one of those so-called "CLM Carter" sirens, I don't have much information about them but there's a few known variants, yours apparently being one of the 20:24 low-RPM units. Although the CLM name is kinda conjectural on my end, I'm going from old and potentially incor...

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

Réville? No, unfortunately I do not... I was also looking for this one since years, all I got was practically nothing. I haven't gave Google Earth a shot though.

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

Argh... Glad to know I'm not the only one who got trolled by that, yesterday they were supposed to test the sirens in Oise too. I waited, waited.. Not a peep from the Gouvieux siren.. Feeling defeated, I went back home.. I could've gone on foot to Chantilly, but since we got informed that a pretty b...

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

They used to do the same thing in my area, if it fell on a holiday, they'd skip it to either the day after or next Wednesday,

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

That 2:1 theory sounds pretty interesting, not that it would be visible Somehow?

Judging from the apparence of the Xonrupt siren, I'd be more inclined to say that it's indeed a faster motor that was fitted.

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

That was my first guess too, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case. There was some sirens that were mounted in bell towers that had the same arrangement, 8 ports but only four larger horns.

Re: the CICCA siren rabbit hole

Besides the small Ciccas, there's some that look like CEN or Demays, making them a bit harder to distinguish, such as the one my friend had, I vividly remember it said "Sirene Cicca" on the motor tag.

Hell if I knew where the pictures of it went...
