Re: Massive ATI Replacement in Frisco, TX

Okay, turns out, a few of the ATI's had some control issues and the EMA director assumes the new controls at the bottom of the pole are to fix that problem. If that is true, why would they spend the money on that since the WPS-2910s are going into place in a month or so? Any thoughts people?

Wait... are they running the ATI's on the Whelen controls until they get the heads in?
No, the Whelen boxes are on the pole but not actually hooked to the unit. The unit will still run on the ATI controls.

Re: Massive ATI Replacement in Frisco, TX

Well, there comes a time to pass the torch.

Almost-

The new Whelen boxes are sitting at the bottom of a few of the ATI's. I'll get pics in the next days coming forth.

Re: Federal 2001-130 Attack in Dallas, TX

Definately a strange spot for a City of Dallas siren but yes that is the reason, because Dallas "owns" the lake. In fact the park it's located at is closed due to an upcoming major development of restraunts and lakefront living. Wonder if they'll relocate that siren? Not to bump topics, b...

Re: Massive ATI Replacement in Frisco, TX

Does anyone know what kinds of issues the units had? If the controls themselves kicked the bucket the head might still be usable if equipped with a controller from another manufacturer. I think if memory serves me correct, Jason basically said that they were old, and didn't reach that far, and were...

Re: Massive ATI Replacement in Frisco, TX

The 2910 is a far better siren for a community. They're just friggin loud and carry very well over a decent span of territory. I always thought the HPSS32 is a good unit for small applications such as an industrial area or a golf course or a small college campus where only one or two units are need...

If any of y'all are wondering when they test, they do it every second Friday at 2pm. (Or at least according to a news report)

Re: Massive ATI Replacement in Frisco, TX

Yes, the Whelens came first and the city augmented them with those throw-away units. Surprisingly the tone on them was pretty good.... Not loud, but didn't sound horrible. https://youtu.be/qjRqCqFHNG0?t=53s Lol. I talked to the EMA director and I told him "well yea I can see why you are replac...

Massive ATI Replacement in Frisco, TX

Hello all, I've just got news that the city of Frisco should be removing their ATI HPSS 32s in a few months. After talking to Jason, who is the emergency management director, he said they should be due for replacement in one or two months, and be replaced with Whelen WPS 2910s. He said they aren't v...
