Re: How heavy is the fedelcode model 5 by chance

If I did it again I would've brought an engine crane with me to lift it into the back of the truck. That would've saved us some effort! One of the 2-ton Harbor Freight cranes boomed all the way out would do the trick.

Re: How heavy is the fedelcode model 5 by chance

Are Fedelcode and FS Model 5s the same thing? If so, my Model 5 weighs around 300 lbs and needed four adults to lift it into the back of a pick-up.

Re: How does the chopper work in a VXS-1000P Siren?

I'm not familiar with these sirens. Perhaps it's a freewheel mechanism like what's used on bicycles?

Re: Tagless Model 5 (How to find info?)

Yes, the motor tag is the one that's missing. Is your shroud tag on the inside or outside? There is a tag located on the shroud with some number on it. I can't remember the exact location, maybe at the bottom of the shroud judging from the picture I have, but on mine I could make out some electrica...

Re: Tagless Model 5 (How to find info?)

My ~1950 Model 5 has a tag on the shroud and a tag on the motor. Did you check the motor?

A siren with an output capacity of 500 kg/day is pretty loud, right? :D

Re: Thunderbolt siren info

Definitely read the manual for the siren and that'll answer many of your questions about operations and maintenance. They're freely available from multiple places across the internet :) You can convert single-phase to three-phase using an appropriately-sized variable-speed drive. I think the drive n...

Re: Sterling Identification Help

Another member here who's knowledgeable about the old Sterlings says the number at the end of the name indicates the year of manufacture, not a specific model. An M45 is a Model M built in 1945, for example.

Re: Question about Thunderbolt mounts.

The telephone pole would have the two bars (I'm not sure of the proper name for them), but that's where the rotator box would sit, with the blower pipe coming down the middle and connecting to the blower on the ground. So the siren head would still be mounted on the telephone pole, just not directl...
