Purdue University (West Lafayette) Sirens

I just noticed that a 2T22 was taken down and replaced with an Eclipse. I'd go get it myself if I could but that's out of the question. So if anyone out there can call up Purdue and try to save it from the scrap heap, go right ahead. There were other 2T22s and an STH-10 around campus but I haven't w...

You'll need a bolt puller set to get the rotor off, and a pneumatic impact wrench to get the stator off.

Gotta agree with hobbee here. If no one wants to claim ownership of the siren besides you, then do the other two parties a favor and get rid of it for 'em. No one wants problems or for things to be more complicated than they need to be. Abandoned 50 year old sirens on abandoned 50 year old poles mak...

Ah, so that confirms the Wikipedia article true. There WAS a 10HP three phase model made for a while.

no, STH-10`s used 10HP 3phase and single phase motors and 7.5HP 3phase and single phase motors. here is a video of one with a 10HP single phase marathon motor. if you don`t believe me go to the comments in this video and find the one that says it does have a marathon motor on it. http://www.youtube...

Marathon made the three phase motors, and STH-10s have always used 7 1/2 HP motors. Northwestern Electric made the single phase motors.

Federal didn't use dates in the serial numbers until later on. And most Federal sirens of this type have interchangeable rotors/stators/motors. Correct me if I am wrong anyone. I don't have sirens that are extremely old, so I can't say much about the serial numbers. They are not interchangeable acr...

Joe, How do you know for sure that your 2 2t22's are from the 1950's since there is no date of manufacture to be found on the id tag? I couldn't find one on either of mine .I kinda of thought that the 2t22 wasn't developed until the early to mid sixties..... The last two digits in the serial number...
