Re: Mystery Siren in Baker City OR

Supposedly there's a siren in Baker City Oregon as their website says, but I looked and couldn't find one. Any ideas?? https://www.bakercity.com/2216/Disaster-Preparedness If you know, please answer. Also by the way I'm new here and this is easily my favorite website now. :D That siren is mounted i...

IIRC Sentry's S.T.A.R. system uses an encrypted DTMF string somewhere around 20 or 30 digits long. I've only heard it once in a video, its quite unusual sounding.
Got a link?

Re: Whelen 2910 decibels.

Assuming a dB loss rate of 10dB per distance doubled and using Whelen’s 129dB @ 100’ rating, it would be about 89dB.

GREAT work Sam!
Thanks Luke! I’m hoping to get a better picture camera in the future for getting more tag shots of these things. Only reason the tag shot of John Day’s was legible is because I was standing 6 feet under it…

Re: How far away have you heard a siren?

I was recording the nooner Bullard in Rickreall when I heard the nooner in the next town over go off- Dallas, an STH about 4 miles away.

Re: “Weltex” siren identity confirmed - E.D. Bullard Model 3H

More new info! Recently the Camas Valley FD in Oregon restored their Bullard, and posted about it on their facebook. They mentioned that it had a 10HP motor, although I am still skeptical of the given the size and volume of these, and the way E.D. Bullard did the model numbers of their other sirens,...

Re: Siren Mishap

The way you describe it makes it sound like the rectifier failed and the siren auto transferred to the batteries, which would run it at a lower RPM. Not sure though, as I don't know how ASC sirens handle that.

Re: Some mystery sirens in Israel and Greenland

Update. The model of the Carl Th. Malling sirens previously referred to as “Type A” and “Type B” have now been verified. They’re called 243L and 243S. L - Lille, translates to “small” in Danish S - Stor, translates to “big” in Danish 243L are the ones most commonly found in Greenland and have a sig...
