Re: Sirens and Energy Efficiency

I think they do EMS as well, not sure exactly. I would guess they utilize pagers too but I don't see why operating a siren as another means of alerting for at max. $30 a year is unreasonable. Here's the siren I'm talking about if anyone wants to watch.

Re: Sirens and Energy Efficiency

So based on your last post are you just assuming they have a problem or have you actually spoken to someone? If they can’t afford to run a siren for 3 minutes once every other day they’ve got bigger problems than the fact their siren uses a fair amount of power to run. And they certainly couldn’t a...

Re: Sirens and Energy Efficiency

....Doesn't this dept. have more serious issues to ponder? The sirens purpose is to warn of dangerous, perhaps life saving incidents, we here all know that.....so is this dept. now weighing the cost of a human life or lives over the minimal cost to operate a siren....even if it is a 3 ph. I see you...

I mean exactly how often are they running this thing? By their nature sirens shouldn’t be racking up the electric bill due to infrequent use.
It's a fire siren, so it's used pretty frequently, probably once every day or two if I had a guess.

Sirens and Energy Efficiency

A nearby fire department to me is currently having a dilemma with their 3T22A and the subsequent electricity costs. This has led me to wonder: what would be some possible solutions to lower the energy costs of operating a siren/what are some more energy efficient siren models?

Re: Vintage siren photos thread

I also decided to try out this vintage aerial website and found a photo of our township's Model 5/7 from 1980.

Fedelcode Model 2 in Mexico

While looking at retired fire apparatus pictures, I came across one with a Fedelcode Model 2 in the background; the location turned out to be Mexicali, Mexico. I'm sharing because there aren't many sirens in Mexico that I know of, much less a Fedelcode. If you search "Brigadas Del Sol" in ...

The STH-10 in my town is red, white, and blue. It's paint has long been rusted over.

I found a Model 5 in PA once that was black with flames curling up the shroud. Forgot where that was.
That would be North Hopewell/Winterstown at the fire company. Currently broken as far as I know.
