Re: Is it possible?

In theory, it might be possible. You would have to have the controls and power somewhere, but I suppose that wouldn't be too hard to wire up. If it were under an overpass, it might not be as efficient, and usually the ones around me (in the Dallas Fort Worth area) aren't very tall. But small towns w...

Re: Stettler, Alberta T-bolt

I've been in contact with Them since November. I'll be there in December this year too, and maybe by then They will have it up and running! If They do I'll get a test recording.

Re: Siren replacement help.

It unfortunately might not be possible to tell them to not take it down. It still very may be likely, just be careful about who you ask about it, and be prepared for your plan to backfire. They might have some good reasons why they want to take it down! I'm fine if they want to replace a very old T...

Siren replacement help.

I found out Gunter Texas's FS Thunderbolt 1000 It's going to be replaced by a T-128. That is a significant range loss, and I'm hoping to try and convince them to at least get two of them on different sides of the city. If you have any points that could help me, that would be appreciated :D

Re: Question about Thunderbolt mounts.

The telephone pole would have the two bars (I'm not sure of the proper name for them), but that's where the rotator box would sit, with the blower pipe coming down the middle and connecting to the blower on the ground. So the siren head would still be mounted on the telephone pole, just not directl...

Re: Question about Thunderbolt mounts.

For something like that the siren would definitely have to be mounted to the pole somehow. That blower pipe alone wouldn't be strong enough to support the siren unless it was braced against the pole or strapped to the pole. The telephone pole would have the two bars (I'm not sure of the proper name...

Question about Thunderbolt mounts.

Is anyone aware of a thunderbolt mounted this way, or if this could even be a realistic mounting setup? It could be a 1000, 1000T, or 1003. I don't really care. I'm trying to motorize the 1/87 Thunderbolt kit from Ralph Ratcliffe Models. It would be very convenient if there were any mounted this way...
