Thanks for all the help Franz. Do you know if a resistor would work to lower sound output? That's what they do on YouTube for indoor testing, I think. But yeah, I definitely won't find an old-fashioned phone anywhere around here. I might open up a 3.5mm jack wire and hook up my iPod to the mic conne...

I'm looking at the same manual you have, and the answer is on page 5. Wire the speakers in paralell, and connect to the "common" and "single" terminals on the back of the unit. Turn the PA function on, and use that to confirm the speakers operate. PA generates much less audio th...

Testing a Unitrol 800, need speaker connection advice

I have a very weird Unitrol 800 that seems to defy the old installation manual in every way, shape, and form. The connections are all labeled differently and it doesn't even have a model number. I think it's one of their newer models (wow, that's charitable). So I went out to the Radio Shack and pur...

-_- You HAVE to be kidding me. Those pieces of scrap on a pole you call a siren wouldn't be as good as this little device. http://www.americansignal.com/products/images/t-135-AC_sm.jpg I was expecting more of a "This... is... ATIIIIIIIII" followed by a high-pitched squeal and the distinct...

Awesome. Is it for volunteer FDs or for weather? Nice to see a Thunderbolt still in operation with this sea of electronics.

I'm not surprised that they're starting to figure out ATI sucks. I drive through Nashville every month and pass by one near a large police/prison compound - just a typical non-working ATI. Here in Chattanooga I know there's a bunch of old Thunderbolts - probably 1000s - on top of buildings everywher...

I think maybe the Indoor Protection/Best Possible Protection tones are a bit more noticeable... correct me if I'm wrong. I think the normal non-warble tones would be good for areas with low ambient sound and the IP/BPP tones would be good for city ambient sound.

So you're saying there's pretty much no way to determine what kind of siren it is strictly by housing?

Also - Fedelcode and Federal are two different companies, I think.

IDing a Model _ type siren

Image

My friend from Second Life just found this close to his house. I know it's a siren, obviously, and I think it's some sort of Model _. However, just to be sure, can anyone ID it?
