Pulsed wail and pulsed steady were made mostly for campuses and areas that multiple warning tones can be used. I recently saw a university website that listed out at least 8 different tones and their various purposes. I suppose they could be used for alternate warnings, such as a dam break or flash ...

Maybe the term is here to stay, but it is not as credible as saying "speaker siren" in my opinion. I guess you can't really argue with ANSI, but that's the way I view the definition of a siren like a Whelen. Why call it a "speaker siren" then? Just call it a (loud)speaker. Thing...

No such thing. Where did he say 100AT?

There's a 500AT, but that's completely different. Sort of like a 2001 but much older.

I really wonder as to why people like to refer to speaker sirens as electronic sirens. Yes, speaker sirens are all electronic, but so are most of the mechanical sirens produced these days. A T-128 is electronic... a 2001 SRN is electronic... a Sentry siren is electronic, as well. "Wait, only t...

Re: Any History about the Hurricane MKII siren?

Maintaining full power into the lower frequencies was the strong point for both the Hurricane as well as the Thunderbolt. Somehow the importance of that point has been forgotten over the years. _________________ The most overlooked opportunities are in the learning of and improvement in old technol...

The siren looks homemade. Is it? (You only state that the timer's homemade.) Reminds me of those mechanical car alarms, with the quick wind-down and fast wind up. I like the timer... as "homemade" as it apparently is. Ever considered getting a shoebox? Seems like that's very vulnerable to ...

those solenoids look a little small. Awesome though! :D I couldn't get them right. They look either too big or too small. Then again, that picture is weird... SL does some weird things to draw objects. Anyways... URGENT UPDATE!!! I have FOUND the e*Class-like AND the old Thunderbolt 1000T sirens!! ...

Best job in the world.

And there's something I'd like to do before I die - stick my head into an Allertor's horn.
