KTG-9 Utzenstorf: http://youtu.be/IZFENE83ARo?hd=1 Everybody forgot about these - creepiest sirens! You for sure wont mistake this sound for anything else! The Kockum Sonics KTG-9 is a pneumatic air horn, not a siren as such. Klaxon CS Siren: http://youtu.be/dByjdhWMBGQ This is in New Zealand... No...

Much of the 'scariness' is subjective; the ambience of a specific recording also plays a large part. I consider this recording of a Sentry 3V8 to be a good example; the echo and the general ambience contribute greatly to the 'feel' of the recording. Having said that, guitarguy's synth of a 7/10 port...

These sirens were later made by Klaxon Signals, under the same model name of GP3 (General Purpose). Intriguingly, this old Klaxon Signals brochure states (on pages 7 and 8 ) that there was also a CS3 (Coded Shutter), which would have worked much like a miniature CS8 (or a miniature, de-horned horizo...

Yes, their site did say that for a while, but I've never been able to find out where they went. They may have been decomissioned by now. If I knew where they were, I would try and record one!

Correct. A 12/8 would sound like a T-135. Of course, an 8/12 siren running on UK 50Hz power wouldn't sound quite like an 8/12 siren running on US 60Hz power. The only British 8/12 siren that I've seen is the one shown in this video . There is/was also an unknown 8/12 siren at the Port Stanvac Refin...

Do you know the port ratio of the Castle Castings siren in this video? It looked like 12/8 to me but wasn't sure I had it right.
10/12, I believe.

Jerry.

What chopper level is this siren set to? I would estimate Level 5, but it seems slightly higher-pitched than the Jaycee Park 1000 which is definitely set to Level 5.

Jerry.

That was my theory, and I'm fairly confident that it is the case, but I haven't received confirmation that that is the official reason.

It is definitely located in Taipei, Taiwan. Taipei 101 is clearly visible. Also, those are definitely ACA Cyclones. See this past post for some pictures of Cyclones in Taiwan:

Okay, Daniel, I'll admit that that response made me laugh. Being semi-serious, however: It sounds different to a Thunderbolt 1003 because it is a completely different type of siren. It sounds different to a 3T22 because of differing design, because it is running on 50Hz power rather than 60Hz power,...
