Five-O Tsunami Sirens

Wow! First to Ask! :D I am curious to see reactions to the special Hawaii Five-O episode after the football game on CBS Sunday night, especially the "tsunami sirens." Did you catch the use of a Carter siren sound during the previews, but for the actual episode, they used a tone generator f...

Double Post Apology!

Sorry about the double post above! When I clicked submit after previewing it, there was a "timed out" message, so I thought the first try didn't go through! Now I know better!

This brings back a lot of memories. I lived in JC mid 60's to early 80's, when they had the older high pitched(10/12?) allertors. When I left in 81 or so, they were starting to replace them because of all the rotator problems they were having. I remember a year or so before I came to CA there was a ...

More Sacramento Info

Regarding the Tbolt 1003 at the mall, I can not imagine why they asked for the mall/stores not to be identified. Funny thing is, if you go to the siren archive, there are two pictures of it, with the location on one of the pictures! The photographer did a good job of not showing any of the store nam...

"Mystery Siren" and More

Actually, the mystery siren is different from the supposed modified model 5's. As far as I know, it's the only one in Sacramento, and it is across from Old Sacramento. The best way to describe it is that it is a lot like one of the older, small sirens I have have seen pictured on the site here. I be...

Re:Sacramento

Fletch: Greetings from Sacramento. All sirens I have seen in the main part of town are mechanical. Through the downtown are sirens that are single-pitch. They have two openings, the bottom one for air intake, the upper one where the chopper is. They also have three "covers," one on the top...

Older Allertor Videos?

My introduction to sirens was in Jefferson City, Missouri, where my family lived from 1969 until the mid '80s. At that time, they were using the chain/belt driven Allertors, with the angled arms from the motor to the base. The things I most noticed about them were: 1. they were two-tone, high pitche...
