A quick search I did found the upper hearing "limit" for a human is from 18khz to 20khz. Certain animals have hearing ranges that go past 30khz and some younger people may be able to hear tones slightly past 20khz; I remember being able to hear a high pitched 18-20khz whine comming from a ...

There are some ghostbuster sound clips on this site. The first set is the proton pack and the second set should be the Ectomobil siren. Number three on the second set has the wind up.

It somewhat reminds me of a single tone T-bolt (minus the raspy; echoy tone)

You'll probably be shocked at how much louder it is with a little air added. Got a old Toro electric leaf blower anywhere?

I've looked for sirens in Google Earth and Windows Live Local before. It's easier to see the sirens using the latter through the "Bird's Eye View" function. You do have to know about general location of the siren you're hunting for so you can at least get the right streets on the map then ...

The axial flow compressor might give a "chopper" effect if you think of the stator and rotor blades arrangement.

Look very closely at the animation

I've heard of a device called a "Kondirator." It shreds metal until it falls through a heavy gauge screen (think 4" thick.) It could either be the hammers passing the screen, or it could be hydraulics . Most likely the latter. There's a street cleaning truck in my city's fleet that u...

Good job on your success.

Keep the video tape and whatever photos and recordings you have somewhere safe.

Hopefully, no authorties come knocking down the door. Good luck on getting it back home.

So far, I've only seen two Hurricane videos. Both are on wisconsirens. Look near the bottom of the list. Do be aware that they are about 40-60 mb respectively. If you're on dialup, it will surely take a while.
