Re: Manitowoc ACA Allertor 125 Siren test

The deaths of the Allertors were due to windings burning out. The motor's internals were totally unrecognizable. Last I heard, the Stangel Elementary Allertor was in a motor shop. Where did you hear this? I know you like to spread stuff on Youtube that isn't true, and the same is not appreciated he...

Re: Manitowoc ACA Allertor 125 Siren test

Motor sounds normal to me, like a typical 10 horse Allertor. It could be single phase and the run caps are getting a little weak.

Re: Alertronic Siren Loactions

Me and Bryan found a couple of really small allertronics that were not considered part of the storm siren system. They were on metal poles and were something like a flood warning siren.

Re: Alertronic Siren Loactions

I think a couple of the Garland Alertronics are still standing. They didn't get removed when the new Whelen system was installed.

Re: CLM Haul, 20/24 Port Carter Sirens

It's only a 70 volt difference, so you could get it up to 528 from 480 with a couple of 48 volt buck-boost transformers. Still pretty low though, but close enough for a brief run. If the insulation of the primaries in the transformers can handle it you can series 4 36 volt buck boost transformers an...

Re: Getting a Mobil Directo

The siren is located in Warner Dr in Culver City. Go to street view and look around Warner Dr. If you have any difficulty finding it just ask me for help :D Congratz! 2 questions.. how will you get it down and disconnect the power? Also, did the city charge you at all, or are they? Or are they like...

Re: Darley Model 2

PM sent. I usually sell Model 2's in the $450 range when I've completely overhauled them, that includes redoing the housing.

The ID tag and the rarity have no affect on the value of the siren. It's still just a Federal model 2 inside a Darley housing.

Re: What to do with storm siren

The only thing that's three phase on that siren is the blower motor and possibly the little 1/3 horsepower rotator motor. Both are easily replaced with generic single phase motors. For less than $1000 you can have that siren operational and ready to be installed. I rebuild a lot of Thunderbolt siren...

Re: 4004 or Vortex?

I always thought the 4004 was direct drive like the Vortex. Only difference was a stepper motor that enabled it to be clocked in any direction.
