Re: Federal Signal STH-C

There were a couple that have gone through Ebay in the past decade. The one Murrfarms referenced, and also a fully-refurbished one that was painted black. They tend to fly under the radar.

Re: Any news on the "new Tbolt"

I am thinking the biggest cost is the metal for it... I mean my thunderbolt is tough! Plus the copper rings and belts. And the blowers that they have to order from gardener Denver... And then the giant motors to run those blowers... The contactors don't seem all that cheap either... I'm thinking th...

For everyone's reference, a CLM would cost about $17,400 today.
Not a CLM, a Mobil Directo. CLMs weren't that expensive.
Fixed it. Regardless, it's interesting how insane inflation rates are.

Re: The replacement siren for the Thunderbolt.

It was basically computer generated, which is why it looks so weird. It replaces nothing. The 2001 roundback came out in 1989, the same year the thunderbolt was discontinued. Yes, it was designed in a CAD program to make the siren as efficient as possible. That projector design works miles better f...

Re: My 2001-130 Test + Distance Recording & Walk Around

Holy shart. Please, follow your neighbor's request and sound it for a warning in Distance video format, perhaps?

A Thunderbolt makes you tremble. A 2001 pierces right through fear and settles down right in the nerves of your back and neck.

People have done that before. While it is possible, it's very difficult. Unless you use 100% fill when it's printed (a huge waste of expensive filament), it'll be almost impossible to balance it properly due to how printers layer and fill an object.

Re: ACA Quadren Mt Prospect, IL 11-1-11

I just have a question about this siren. Was this like a prototype of the I-Force? Or did it just use the same controller as what the I-Force used? Arguably. It was in production in the 1990s, and although it wasn't an intentional prototype, the siren did eventually become the I-Force after a few d...

Re: A rare German siren

So the motors can run individually? That's crazy!!! Yes. The reasoning behind this was that the low tone side was designated for Fire brigades, while the high tone was designated for Air raids and other forms of attack. This was the norm across most of Germany, so certain manufacturers thought it w...
