2001 testing

Mr. Nuke: Thank you for your input, but you are incorrect in your assumption that there are three ways to test an outdoor warning siren. There is only one way according to ANSI standards and it is S12.14 Methods for the Field Measurement of the Sound Output of Audible Public Warning Devices Installe...

2001 testing

This is the same system that had an epic failure in Hamilton County a few weeks ago. I hope this teaches Hamilton County EMA what to expect if they decide to go with the 2001-130 the untested 130 db siren that has never been tested according to ANSI standards.

Epic Failure

Jpressman look at the date of the article it is Jan 2010 and the sirens were not bid till Feb. This is the Codespear system that will cost $250,000.00 per year to keep updated and maintained. The first time they used Codespear it was an epic failure. Just keep up with the letters and posts.

2001 Testing

Acoustics 101 writes the following: All high power warning devices are not created equal. A simple dB rating at 100 feet doesn't tell the whole story. Sound doesn't decay by 10 dB per doubling the distance or any other arbitrary rule. Propagation loss depends on the inverse square law of -6dB per do...

2001 testing?

Jim Z: Thank you for your input and you are right who cares, but you have missed the point of this and the other topic "2001 ANSI Testing" and that is Federal will do whatever it takes to make a sale. In my opinion they bend the laws, stretch the half truths and pull the wool over the eyes...

2001 testing

It is a simple fix let's put a T-128 and a Federal 2001-130 next to each other and test them side by side. Then send the data to all EMA directors in the country and publish the results in the trade magazines. In a letter from Hamilton County EMA they recognize the fact that the 2001-130 does not ha...

2001 testing

Thank you for your most impressive take on the situation. As a dealer and manufacturer I have been beating my head againts the wall for years because in my opinion Federal has always s t r e c h e d the truth and bent the standards around what they wanted the officials to hear. A few years ago I inc...

2001 testing

Acoustics 101 wrote on another post on this site: I just read the report. Federal tests their sirens in an anechoic test chamber. The problem with using only this method is that it doesn't account for atmospheric absorption loss, which is at the heart of why two systems of equal dB rating at 100 fee...

2001 (lack of testing)

Thanks Hacksaw I spoke to this company as I previously posted and they have not tested the 2001-130 or the 2001SRNB. Thanks again and keep looking
