Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

I’ll try to publish it if I can, perhaps it’s time I get a YouTube channel, like a large amount of people on here have. But I’ve had issues with files in the past so I can’t promise anything.

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

https://weathersafety.ohio.gov/ It should be happening. That being said, the pandemic has cancelled things like this in the past, so don't be surprised if it's cancelled or postponed. Anyways, I came on here because I was looking at a recording of mine from 2 weeks ago, and the wind must have been ...

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

It won’t let me upload it since it thinks it’s too large (even though I’ve uploaded the same size files before) but I wasn’t able to get close to the siren, so I don’t think you can really tell what cabinet it has, if you’re even able to tell by looking.

Re: Lowest mounted Siren in US

Well then, perhaps it was meant not to project as far because it was too loud or something along the lines of that. For fire sirens they get a lot of noise complaints.

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

If anyone is aware of the 4004 near the intersection of McKinley and Trabue Roads near Hilliard, this siren recently got moved about 800 feet north of its old location, to make room for new apartments. Also probably because it was really close to the apartments there already. I went by there the oth...

Re: What is the difference between Whelen WPS-4004 and Whelen Vortex R4?

4004's have a square box with a cylinder protrusion and Vortexes have a rectangular box with a square protrusion. I always assumed this was so the 4004's could rotate in 8 directions for voice, which Vortexes don't need to do.

Re: What is the difference between Whelen WPS-4004 and Whelen Vortex R4?

Basically what Eows said. As far as I'm aware Vortexes only had the finback option too, though I'd need someone else with extensive knowledge on Whelens to verify that. Does anyone know the purpose of the fins on the older models? Was it just for looks or was it useful in some way? Sorry if this is...

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

Interesting. The 3 at Rickenbacker I believe are operated by the National Guard as a base speaker system, which are in place at every military base in the country. The CSX yard siren I have no information about, but I can’t see it on the Ohio map I use.

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

Did I hear the southwest zone do a full 3 minutes the second activation yesterday? Could’ve sworn I heard an ESC-2020 at 12:05. Perhaps one siren failed to pick up cancellation tones.
