Re: Vintage siren photos thread

Bump.

Contributing from all the way in Australia. Here's two Grifco 777s in the 70s/80s down south of Sydney. Photos are annotated.

Re: Whelen Siren Failures and Malfunctions

Here's an absolute classic. Seems like both 3000s in Brighton were dying from low batteries at the same time. The main 3000 kept whining and making very weird pitch fluctuating noises rather than a 700hz alert tone. It seems that the Analog 864 refused to cut off on low batteries? You can also hear ...

Re: The Newly Aquired Skil/Sher Wailing Joe + More Info

A very big congratulations on the acquisition. I want to hear it run because I can never find a recording online I plan on testing it this weekend. If not there's plenty of videos of them going off. Wailing Joes and Alarm Masters sound the same. https://youtu.be/R592a-yXRo4 https://youtu.be/0fU8Zkf...

The Newly Aquired Skil/Sher Wailing Joe + More Info

Hey all, just figured I'd share to you all my latest acquisition, my new Skil/Sher Wailing Joe. Yes, a Wailing Joe, it's a funny name. Before I begin I'd like to write down what Me & HX56 know so far about these sirens. Currently, the information on the Sher and after merging with Skill is reall...

Cessnock Grifco 888 Siren Test

Yesterday, I went to Abermain to give it another shot at hearing the siren but to my surprise the 888 is not connected to power. The captain pressed the button and the siren didn't make a single sound. After that, I went to Cessnock and got to hear their 888 sound! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: American sirens in different countries

i forgot the location its on some UK siren map but there's 3 3/2t22s in the UK some DSAs and some modulators and a 2001-130 and a banshee and some cyclones in London i think Severnside, UK has a system of Modulator 6024s and DSAs. Sullum Voe Oil Terminal has two known 2T22s in 50hz, hence the short...

Re: Mobil Directo in Germany, of all places

I'm sure everyone has seen this but here's it in action running in 50hz which sounds very much like a Carter or a Grifco 999 in terms of pitch.

My favorite train horn would be the Raised Letter K5LA, Nathan P5 or the Lesile RS5Ts. All of them sound amazing.

Re: Saudi Arabian Mystery Sirens in 1991

I believe that the sirens SirensofAustralia were referring to are pre-864 Whelens of some kind. At 3:54 in the video he linked you can hear them activate in air horn briefly, and it sounds just like pre-864 air horn. Those were not Pre-864s, they were Analog ESC-864s. I have a feeling they might be...
