Yesterday, I went to Abermain to give it another shot at hearing the siren but to my surprise the 888 is not connected to power. My favorite train horn would be the Raised Letter K5LA, Nathan P5 or the Lesile RS5Ts. All of them sound amazing.

I believe that the sirens SirensofAustralia were referring to are pre-864 Whelens of some kind. At 3:54 in the video he linked you can hear them activate in air horn briefly, and it sounds just like pre-864 air horn. Those were not Pre-864s, they were Analog ESC-864s.
