RSH-10 Thunderbeam - 1 Minute Alert, Wahiawa HI

Monthly test of the last RSH-10 Thunderbeam on O'ahu. One of only 3 mechanical sirens still in service on island, this siren will likely be replaced very soon despite its reliability. There are various sirens in the surrounding area including an EOWS 612, DSA, Modulator 6024 and 2 Cooper Waves siren...

Honolulu County, O'ahu Siren Map

Here's a detailed map of the siren system on my home island of O'ahu, Honolulu County. I finally got around to uploading all my siren locations from Apple to Google maps. I've spent my whole life around this system, and grew up listening to the OG legacy system since I was a small child. This map co...

Kailua, HI siren ambience

Monthly siren test, nothing too special. But the thunderbolt does have a nice windup. Model A is a bit too loud for the camera and unfortunately drowns out everything. Enjoy!

I went up to record the MOD 6048 at the emerald queen casino that day but it never sounded. I called EMA and they said they they would get to it.

Re: Siren Testing Schedules...

Hawaii state Civil Defence sirens: First working day of the month @11:45. They sound 1 minute of alert, and in the district surrounding Campbell industrial park, alert is followed by 1 minute of whoop.

Re: Federal Signal Model 5 (8-port) - Noon Blast - Pine Hill

I'm leaning towards a sentry. It has a fast windup and a higher pitch than any 8 port M5 that I know of. Then again, it could very well be a Model 5 since we can't actually see it!

Re: Lets revisit the Mt Baldy, CA mystery siren kx250rider

Its a Model D, not an A. The front cone of the A does not contour out in that manner. As for the mystery siren...my guess is that it is a 16 high tone Denver. If I can recall correctly, there was a 16 port denver similar to this in Fowler, CA.

Re: outdoor small siren??

I am from Washington where it gets very cold in the winter and our local voulenteer fire department used 2 model D's spaced about 200meters apart as street clearing sirens. They souded every single time they got a call, even when there was 4 feet of snow at 0°C. So yes they can most certainly withst...

Re: outdoor small siren??

These sirens are not weather-proof and are more for use on vehicles. They are not very loud at all... an ademco Wave 2 security siren could easily drown one of these out. I would go ahead and look for a Model A/D/L instead since they are designed for use outdoors and most can simply plug into the wa...
