Re: Southern Missouri Sirens (and North Arkansas)

Fredericktown in Madison County has a few Whelans. Ellsinore in Carter county has a siren but I'm unsure of what kind.

Re: Golden City Siren Massacre

I wish I could post it. The video doesn't seem to be on Youtube anymore. It was taken from a gas station in town and you could hear the shrill high pitch of a 2001-130 fading in and out. I was hoping to hear the Defenders in action.

Looking on Youtube from that event it sounds like they switched out their old system with 2001-130s from Federal Signal.
Those could easily be the defenders they are hearing. can you link the video please?

Re: Sirens In State And National Parks?

St Louis County MO's 29xxs can be heard in Castlewood State park. One of the MO state parks in Boone County has a FS 2001 of some sort near the entrance.

Re: MORE Alabama Siren Systems Silenced

Reverse 911 is not very good for short fuse situations. Repeated calls long after the threat has passed or people never receiving them is a common complaint. Reverse 911 is more effective for flood or fire evacuations. The standard alerts that come with all cell phones nowadays is far more effective...

Re: MORE Alabama Siren Systems Silenced

It's quite irritating when meteorologists and EMs downplay the effectiveness of sirens. Maybe city and county leaders should be held accountable for letting their systems fall into disrepair. I've noticed many of these leaders greatly exaggerate the cost of new sirens with some claiming 50 grand a p...

Re: San Francisco ATI system being silenced; possibly replaced

Why would it take so long to do maintenance on them. It's not that big of a system. Just to use St Louis County MO as an example, they have around 200 sirens in their system of Whelens and the whole system has never been taken offline. Same with Little Rock AR and Oklahoma City. Two things that have...
