Nice vid. I've caught a glimpse of that one on my way to work a couple of times, but it gets hidden by trees. the one just south of Vernier is more visible from the freeway. Wonder what the person who has that one in their backyard thinks of it? ;)

AFAIK, Mich. uses alert for testing and attack for any real warning. anytime I've heard our sirens for a weather situation, it's always been attack.

Nice, clean recording by the way.
thanks. I borrowed some expensive equipment from work to record it. I'd have liked to get closer but it was the best I could do.

n the beginning it seems to be having rotational problems and then straightens up. I'm guessing the rotator drive is actually taken off of the chopper motor. thus, initially the rotation speed is slow until it comes up to full speed- and notice the rotation slows as the siren winds down. AFAIK the ...

I mainly want an AR timer just so I have "a complete outfit."
failing that, you could rig up a controller using a PLC (programmable logic controller) and high-current relays.

I need someone to host it, I can't find a danged hosting site that host's WAV files
er, why not compress it? *.wav files are huge (10 MB per minute for 16-bit, 44.1k.) You could cut that down to about a tenth of that with mp3 and maintain reasonable quality.

They don't indictate from how many feet away they get 124 db. 3 meters (9.8 ft.) Seems they could be even louder if the stator ports weren't so covered up by the chrome collar with small angled slots. probably, but then you'd have a safety issue. Thanks for the photos. can't take credit, those are ...
