16-Port Siren Map

This map is a passion project about 16-Port and 16/16-Port sirens across the US. Mainly Sterling M-series sirens in here. If there is a siren that you'd like me to add that is 16 or 16/16-Port, comment below. Coordinates are preferred. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1MTDILFOUsKZI_WLhUo...

New York CD System Composition

I'm trying to figure out, where that one iconic single-tone civil defense siren recording was made. I've narrowed the siren down to an H.O.R. Siro-Drone in the greater New York area (specifically Manhatten or Long Island) sometime in the late 1940s to early 1950s, but there is infuriatingly low amou...

Questions about Sellafield's Alarms

I stumbled across the Sellafield facility's alarms from 2012, back when another company ran the site. This is what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtNgOeqBKQU Considering that these alarms were from a decade ago, and that currently Sellafield is run by a different entity nowadays,...

What is going on in Texarkana's EMA?

Texarkana's sirens are supposed to wind-up weekly, every Wednesday at noon. Well now 80+ minutes after the clock hit 1200 and still no sirens on either side of the state line. I know for a fact that the sirens are active since I've heard one of the sirens do a weird dual alert cycle back in the summ...

Re: The "Models in existence" thread

I decided to try to find every Sentry Defender and Edwards EWS-11 in existence and was pretty much as underwhelmed as I could be... If anyone knows the past locations of the Tuttle OK and Ames IA Defenders or any other sirens I missed, please let me know. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1-_xn...

Re: Louisiana sirens

There's another inactive Thunderbolt 1000T from Shreveport's old CD system left standing.

I Need Test Times for the Corpus Area

There's a good deal of sirens across the Corpus Christi Bay Area, but I only know the testing times for three systems, those being Refinery Row, Mathis, and Alice. The systems in Agua Dulce, Robstown, Odem, Refugio, Sinton, Sandia, Driscoll, Bishop and Kingsville remain a mystery in terms of testing...

Re: The weirdest sirens ever seen.

Here in South Texas there are quite a few insane setups. (Links in streetview mode were way too big) This siren has a setup that an EF0 could likely blow over https://www.google.com/maps/@27.9499305,-97.5843112,3a, This thing is in an equally perilous situation https://www.google.com/maps/@27.782665...

Oil City LA Darley

Oil City has an outdoor museum-slash-equipment graveyard with tons of rusting metal apparatuses, such as tractors and steam boilers. However, when I visited Oil City a few years back (2018, specifically), there was what appeared to be an old siren. Upon closer inspection, I recognized it as possibly...
