Re: Question about siren antennas.

oh, my. So is the long straight one the antenna you're interested in? that seems to have no radials attached to that bracket? The lower one in your last photo. Hazarding a guess, it's probably still low-band, 30-50 MHz, just based on length, but they are 'depending' on the metal bracket to provide a...

Re: Federal Signal Siratrol Radio Tone Decoder Boards (Need help finding activation tones)

Interesting that there is a Com-Spec board added to the receiver; likely a PL decoder, so the signal has to have both correct tones AND correct PL tone. The 3 relays will provide contact closure for each tone; you may have an A-B and A-C sequence, A-B/C-B, Long B or Long C, or any of several others ...

Re: Question about siren antennas.

mmm, nope; quarter-wave antenna with ground radials. By the size, I'm saying low-band (anywhere from 30 to 50 MHz). Similar to a DB201 antenna. With the turn at the top, it will be a 'hairpin' antenna; DC grounded, since the outer side of the hairpin is attached to the main part of the antenna. Look...

Re: Anyone here with a truck air horn in their car?

Just a bit of blue-skying and background. Sounds similar to Police cars with (I think it's called ) 'Horn Ring Override'; Yes, 2 position toggle switch, in one the horn works normal. In the other, the wire coming from the horn ring in the steering wheel is routed instead to the mode switch of the si...

Any updates on that test?
I think I missed hearing the test on Nov. 2, in that I either wasn't paying attention for it, or I was not any where near where I could hear it.

Re: The Official NC Siren Map

App State U, Boone NC:

I know and have seen at least 3 campus warning sirens at ASU.

Bell Tower,
Farthing Hall
Sanford Hall.

Been many many years since I saw them. Might be able to see Farthing & Sanford sirens from Google streetview.
