On that, please remember that it's roughly a 3dB increase in output that equals double the acoustical energy...meaning essentially that with their ratings, it would take 2 older 2001s running next to each other at the same time (disregarding phase interactions) to equal the output of a 2001-130. Tha...

Mike, there are only 2 copper rings running around the chopper tube there, so it has to be a single-phase motor in there. It has the 3rd spot it looks like to run it with a 3-phase chopper motor also. Since the blower motor is always going to be 3-phase, I don't know why it would come with different...

A single-phase Thunderbolt blower will work fine with the Hurricane. There will be a measurable reduction in volume, but probably not noticeable from the level of very loud. You can always use a leaf blower/shop vac to get it making a good deal of noise, but a single-phase T-Bolt blower is definitel...

Noon Blast Siren Trio: Model 2, Model 2T, Model 5T

Here is the noon blasting going on at my house from today. The first very faint siren is the Model 2 used as a time signal for the nearby power plant. Next is my 220 volt Model 2T hooked up to a timer, running on 110 volts. Last is my 220 volt Model 5T running on 110 volts, with me manually turning ...

Interesting timing that you just asked that, because I just got mine up and running. It runs my 220 volt Model 2T on 110 volts everyday at noon for 8 seconds. If everything work out, I'll redo the wiring after a bit (not use electrical cords, use conduit, use grounding) and make it more permanent, b...

Hi, Boca and Boynton, as well as nearly every municipality in the area, had fire sirens, but those are long gone. As of a few years ago, Palm Beach shores was still testing their Modulator every Saturday at noon and using it for structural fire calls. After that, and aside from nuclear power plant s...

The concept of testing a siren at a dozen feet away and rating it as an interpolated 100 ft measurement is like Pam Cooking Spray's nutrition facts. Aside from volatile aerosols, the ingredient in Pam is oil. Oil = fat. 100 grams oil = 100 grams fat. They knock the serving size down to .28 grams, wh...

These pictures are up on the VictorySiren.com site, but the site appears to be down temporarily now. The first and third photos are of the WW II-era Chrysler-Bell Victory Siren, like it says painted on the steel beams. You can tell the difference between the WW II Victory Sirens and the Cold War Chr...

As you wrote in your listings, those are separate municipalities from the city of Dallas and they own their own systems. You'll cover most manufacturers and most siren models if you start going through all the suburbs.
