Scarborough, ON Whelen 2805 Whoop & Alert Signal

Tue Feb 25, 2020 11:19 pm

So when Toronto East CAER (Community Awareness and Emergency Response) posted that they were testing the sirens on Facebook I jumped at the opportunity to see my very first Whelen siren test!
It shook the ground almost like the thunderbolt in Sarnia!.

Very nice. A university I used to attend (I transferred out) has four Whelens that make this same whoop sound. They're tested once per semester and were set off for a weather emergency during a major campus event I was at.
Architecture preservationist. I enjoy obscure history and mapping things, and grew up around sirens. Not planning to own one.

Cool there is another set of Whelens in London, Ontario at Western University that did sound for a tornado warning in 2013 and they supposedly test it every Wednesday at noon but I emailed them and they do a quiet test every Wednesday instead of an audible test. They do audible tests on the first Wednesday of the month at noon for some reason...

Here is the tornado warning video of the one whelen sounding. at the time we only had one whelen I think and the other one has yet to be installed at the time.
