What is your favorite siren port ratio/interval?

Thu Aug 08, 2013 9:51 pm

I always liked the classic 10/12 ratio, the minor third like on the 2T22 and castle castings siren, but my favorite is probably 9/12, the perfect fourth. It's used on many ACA sirens, like the allertor and cyclone. I also like the 7/10 tritone, because it's the scariest one but it's only used on the HOR super sirex.

DAM i forgot to add a poll, so just post which one is your favorite

The Cyclone is an 8/12 port, which is a perfect fifth.

Otherwise, the 10/12 port 500AT is my favorite.

I like the weirder combos that aren't used very often, like 10/16 and 8/10... but the raspiness of a 10/12 rotating siren (particularly 500ATs) will give me goosebumps near every time. I like ratios more when they are more nasal sounding, like when 8/12 is in an Allertor.

Number one would be 10/12. Number two would be 10/16. My least favorite is the 8/16 octave.

I am in love with 8/10. To me that siren just gives off such an eerie tone, it makes me shiver. I wish there were more sirens that used it.....

8/10 for sure...especially when it's coming out of a Hurricane.

My favorite is the 7/10 tritone, if I want a scary siren, and 9/12 perfect fourth if I want a happy siren

8/10 technically shouldn't be eerie because that is a major third, which is a happy sounding interval

This is a video of a 7/10 tritone siren, the HOR super sirex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A81DMPD-zrI

My least favorite would be the perfect fifth, such as the 10/15 decot siren. It just sounds bland to me

Probably a raspy 10/12 port Allertor/500T, 4/5 Thunderbolt (in attack, sounds so menacing), 10/16 and 8/12.

Mine are 10/12, 9/12, 8/12, & 5/6. Would someone please tell me what the minimum ports needed would be to make a siren with less ports sound like a 8/12 & a 9/12. I know 5/6 sounds like a 10/12
