In Muslim countries, civil defense sirens, electronic sirens connected to mosque speakers, or cannon mark the end of the day's Ramadan fast.
This depend on culture, however. In my country, Malaysia, sirens are just at a handful of places since only very few risk-prone areas & those only sound during tests and warnings, so Syawal 1st (Eid ul-Fitr, after Ramadhan) is marked by announcement by a representative from Majlis Raja-Raja (Kings Council) after Syawal New Moon is spotted by relating authorities.
Even one of our Carter / Gents / Castle Casting (The one in Kuala Kangsar) is only used to mark "Iftar" during Ramadhan.
Then when Eid is declared to occur tomorrow, we fire cannons and light fireworks. Lil' ones play stick firecrackes lit up using Eid Torches placed at areas around our grandparents house.
Anyways we still use mosque speakers to broadcast live Azan.
