Honestly couldn't say. Haven't been to a 40v2t in person yet (or even heard one in person yet), and was around 875 feet back from the siren, which probably affected just how loud I would've perceived it. But I didn't really have to cover my ears or anything, which was probably due to how far back I was.

It's louder at a distance based on the fact that the 15 port chopper was replaced by a 10 port one. The high pitch from the 15 port chopper causes the tone it puts out to fade quicker in the distance. It'll definitely carry farther. Up close it's probably quieter, since we perceive the higher pitch as being louder in our hearing. You can feel when a siren is actually louder in you body better. The Whelen's, T-128, and Sentry's I've recorded were loud enough to sometimes vibrate my chest. From the same distance I wouldn't be able to feel the tone of a 2001 like that, but my ears would be shredded. I had the same experience hearing a Thunderbolt 1000 and 1000T with the same blower and chopper level where the 1000 would rock my body and the 1000T would hurt my ears more.

If you test it with a dB meter set to the C scale it probably would register a slightly higher SPL.

Didn't really feel it in my chest, but again, that might've been due to how far back I was. Might've also been due to it being mechanical, as the only sirens I can recall actually "feeling" have been Whelens.

Ha! Sounds like a Super Sirex. I'm sure the lower, single-tone setup carries considerably farther than the standard 10/15 ratio, but that shrill twin-tone howl is classic.

I've taken pictures of the new one in Huntsville, I don't want to film it because it's at a sewage plant, you get the picture.
PLEASE DONT TAKE ANYTHING I SAY SERIOUSLY!

I would but I don't know how to upload pictures on the ars board as it practically requires an engineering degree

its easy to upload pictures, just drag and drop a picture from your folder into the text box, if it doesn't work try going to a image hosting site like Imgur, Photobucket, etc, upload your images there then send a link to the picture you uploaded in the text box.
