Elwood has a P-50 that goes off for tornadoes and may be used for Dresden plant emergencies., and we have a STH-10 that is inactive, but was used for nuclear warnings and was replaced by the P-50. Rural areas south of elwood like coal city and braidwood also have Dresden sirens used for tornadoes and plant emergiencies.

The sirens in Fife, Puyallup, Sumner, and Orting will sound off in attack for a Lahar ejected from Mount Rainier, a Lahar is a deadly volcanic mudflow that can grow up to 50+ feet high.

In Hamilton County, Ohio, they are mainly used for tornadoes, but may be used for other life-threatening weather situations or chemical disasters at the discretion of an EM officer.

Toledo is about 10 miles outside of the EPZ for both Davis Besse in Oak Harbor and Fermi II in Monroe so our sirens are just for Tornado Warnings. Some out in the more rural townships in the county use them for Fire Paging. One notable exception though, Washington Township (stuck in between North Toledo and Michigan) stopped using their 3t22 for fire runs a few years back.

Over here, the sirens are used for storm warnings, but if something were to happen like maybe a "The Day After" scenario, I bet the sirens will be utilized for that too.

St. Joe County, IN - 3 minute fast wail for 'naders and 1 minute for tests.

Cook and Palisades nuclear plants, 15 and 25 miles north, respectively, use their sirens both for tornado warnings and nuclear incidents. Alert is both used in both cases as far as I know.

Everyone else around here (LaPorte, Elkhart, Bremen, Niles, ect) just uses the standard 3 minute alert for tornado warnings. LaPorte county uses attack for "other hazardous situations".
