Onondaga County, NY- Firehouse alerting. Syracuse University has 2 Sentries for on-campus emergencies. Neighboring Oswego County has a system of Thunderbolts (gonna be T-128's soon) for emergencies at the 9-Mile nuclear plant.

Severe thunderstorms, tornados, and small businesses being ripped apart by badgers.

Most fire sirens are decommissioned in Southern Ontario but areas near nuclear plants have sirens by law, some fire departments still use sirens for fire calls, and a couple cities have sirens for tornadoes and/or industrial accidents

Have you even realized that Hamilton County and every surrounding county that had the policy of sounding the sirens for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning with a Tornado Watch eliminated it in 2011?

Around here the bulk of the sirens in use are fire sirens with a few exceptions.

Glastonbury uses their 2 2902s and 2 2740s not only as fire sirens (3 cycles of wail from 7am-8pm) but also use alert for storms, and attack for it's intended purpose.

The towns of Waterford, Lyme, Montville, Groton, New London, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Fisher's Island NY have 81 2910s used for the Millstone power plant. Alert is for plant emergencies and weather, and attack for it's intended purpose.

Old Saybrook also has it's own siren system of a few 2805s (one doubles as a fire siren) and WS 2000s (at least one 2008) used for storms in addition to the Millstone system. I think they use alert for storms.

Milford has a system of 2805s and at least one 2905 used for floods and storms.

That's all I can think of right now.

Jackson City/County Michigan. Tornadoes, T-storm winds above 70 mph. Several 2001's about the city and urban townships also one T-bolt downtown. Some of the rural townships, villages also have siren coverage. Warnings usually done in the alert cycle.

I'd imagine they would be sounded in attack if the ICBM's ever got turned loose, but the attack signal hasn't been used in monthly testing here in a very long time.

Siren testing is one minute of alert is usually (if they don't forget) on the first Saturday each month at noon.

Tornadoes and in-laws

Our county sound ALL of the county's sirens if any part of a warning polygon enters the county line. Quite inefficient, but it means there is usually an activation or two that you can safely catch on camera before you must take cover.

Wow… Awesome stuff so far! Well I guess I will tell mine too… In nebraska it was mostly sever weather but here in oregon, sirens are used for volunteer fire departments, the noon whistle, tsunamis, collectors items and decorations. (Joke of course.)
