Wow that's a lot of Allertors.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have a video of one of them on YT. It is a fire siren now. How did you find that out?

Sorry for the bump, but does anybody have a picture of the thunderbolt that was on the Capitol?

I recall that there was one somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find it...

I faintly recall what it looked like. It was a silhouette of a Thunderbolt, and literally right behind it, you could see the Capitol building's dome.

Yes, I bumped an old thread, you can hang me later for it, but I found some sirens that are still left and some locations with the help of everyone's favorite long haired Missourian (Stormsetter4)

First of all, I'm still hunting for this:

"A former Thunderbolt location:
On one of my busy days on Squad 27 (http://www.morningsidevfd.com),
We stopped at a county fuel site behind an old school just off of Rt. 4 in the Forestville/District Heights area. There was kind of a bus circle/grass mound with a utility pole in the center that had a pole-mounted platform and 3" standpipe running up the pole.....the siren had been removed some time ago."

Anyone know of it's whereabouts?

AND, I found some sirens that are still left:
A thunderbolt 1003 at Blueridge and Grandview in Wheaton, Maryland (I'm convinced this is Wheaton VFD's 1003 from the DC system days)
A Model 5 at Kensington, Maryland's Fire Station (I'll say this, it may be a fire siren, but I have a slight feeling it may also be an old DC siren)
And lastly, A Thunderbolt at Mt. Rainier Recreational center in Mt. Rainier, Marylane (Cruz found this one first, so props to him for that)

On a side note, Cruz and I went rifling through pictures of DC from long ago, and he found a picture that shows the Cannon Building Thunderbolt (I circled in red for everyone's convenience). We have a feeling this may be the siren I saw in that picture of the Tbolt at the capitol building a year or so back.

Cruz may contribute more if he wants to, or not... It isn't my week to watch him, you know.

Here is a close up picture of the Former cannon building siren:

The thunderbolt at the Mt. Rainer recreation center is quite interesting, the RCM was installed inside of the blower on the "front" of thd blower box. Another interesting bit is that when Washington got the 200 allertors in the 1970's, the 450 or so thunderbolts were upgraded from Phone relay to ACA compulert radio control. The compulert box can be seen on the Mt. Rainer thunderbolt and the old phone relay directly below it. Here are some streetview shots and a walk around video of this particular siren:

Compulert radio, phone relay and Yagi antenna clearly seen here:

Why in the world are those RCM's open?! Is that just because of vandalism?

Most likely, last time they went off was around 1988 or so.
