My next submission is a Federal Enterprises Thunderbolt 1000 (used to be a 4/5 1000T; one of the first ever made up until many years ago when the dual tone chopper burned out and was replaced with a single toned one...this one is a later 1950’s model as it does not feature the “bar-grille” reinforced horn but has the mesh screen on it. It is a Series A1 Thunderbolt. It sounds every Saturday at noon for a 30 second Alert along with the other sirens.

It’s located in Barberton, Ohio, on top of the Barberton Municipal Court and was installed in the 1950’s after the building was completed.

All photos were taken across the street at Lake Anna Park. The downtown environment with buildings from the 40’s and 50’s provides a killer reverb when this thing goes off and it sounds real creepy (it’s on Chopper 5). I used a Canon PowerShot SX50HS for these pictures.

Still need to record that one. That's the siren at my old elementary school.
