Xenia, Ohio Thunderbolt Sirens

Tue Jun 18, 2013 11:33 pm

Here is the official thread for the Xenia, Ohio's Thunderbolt Sirens. I first knew Xenia had Thunderbolt's back in 2009 when we were driving on state route 68 through Xenia and I spotted a yellow hornless Thunderbolt next to a restaurant called "Nicks". Sadly, that Thunderbolt has been removed by the restaurant for extra parking space. All the Thunderbolts are inactive due to being replaced by 2001-SRN-B's in 2003, but most of the Thunderbolts still remain untouched for years. A few photo's can be found below.

First off the Goodwill Thunderbolt (same siren that's in my avatar):

Wow, those Tbolts are mounted pretty low. I bet the 2001 has better coverage just by being off the ground.

Yep! They probably do! It's a good thing the Thunderbolts are decommissioned. They're mounted SO low!

Does the T-121 test with the rest of Greene County's sirens? And when do they test?

I know Greene County tests on the first Monday of the month at noon. The T-121, may be tested the same day, but I'm not sure. Hope this helps!

Wow. Just wow.
Where is Xenia in Ohio? I would guess east.

It makes me sad to see all of the good 'ol sirens go. Franklin County Ohio had some nice Thunderbolts in the siren system, but their maintenance for the sirens sucked, so all the Thunderbolts were replaced... WITH WHELNS.

Xenia is southeast of Dayton. Xenia is a nice town with nice old sirens.
