B&N 44E Mobil Directo Third Signal Capability?

Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:36 am

Take a closer look at the text under the projector horn. Can anyone explain this? Any examples of existense or images of these Third Signal capable units?

Seems like we've missed some more documentation on B&N 44E-X Mobil Directos.

Its referring to the "pulse" signal.

Could it also be a centrifugal switch that some Allertors were rumored to have that made the 'yelp' signal?

I'd say it's for the pulsed local code signal.

Weren't the early MDs available with an optional motor-brake? And as for true pulsed, I'm not sure how one could elegantly fit any damper mechanism over the intake bell.

I'd might suggest B&N put the damper in the neck. I've once thought about making a 44E Hi-Lo capable long before this thread by shutting & opening the rows of stators actuated by some sorta geared wheel or a 2-lane intake; one for 10 port side, another one, vice versa. A damper is put at every lane. The end of each lane leads air upwards.

Anyways, is that requires collector ring (Not a Whelen joke, in fact they've done the right thing. IIRC DSRX100 said
Collector rings are not that good for voice announcements.
) change? I've noticed the rotator box of a 1003 is taller than a standard 1000/T.

While it wouldn't really be possible to fit one over the intake, what about the top "exhaust pipe"? A damper in there could probably have some effect.

The neck and intake cone were not perfectly segregated from each other - the chopper just loosely took up space inside the housing - so I suppose blocking the neck would simply direct a portion of the sound that is reverberating inside the chamber to try and belch out the front bell. I'm sure B&N realized certain shortcomings of the housing design and worked around it by equipping the siren with a yelp mechanism for that very reason.

The only way we could take; ask Jim Biersach. That if he's still alive.

Edit : I couldn't email him. I'm now on my Nokia during morning tea at boarding school, no idea on Jim's email address & my Compaq Presario V3000 (Remember my driver issues while trying to run ROBLOX Studio?) is now dead (So for now I'll be using my dad's semi-former laptop (His laptop has display issues when the screen is at an angle so he's using my Mum's and she uses her office PC) until I got a new laptop (Preferably HP Pavilion Gaming laptop, cheap but powerful & follows my family's HP Legacy (My dad's HP Pavilion g4 2nd Gen i5, Radeon, my mum's HP [Unknown Model], my [Stated]).

PS : Seems like I've homeran my own topic.

Jim is still alive and well.

Small thing though: why divulge into the exact specs for this phone of yours and then give a blow by blow account of your laptop happenigns and tell us everything about it? There's an entire thread for specs and stuff in the off topic forum.

Anyway, I can see where SirenMadness is coming from and in theory it should work. Finding one might take slightly more than the half life of plutonium however.
