Anyone know why Madison County Al Does Short Alert on the Sirens?

Scott can probably answer the question than I can, but it's likely to avoid residents complaining about a "false alarm" whenever the sirens are tested. According to him, they once sounded the sirens for a severe thunderstorm warning, and people here complained about that.
They also used to just growl the sirens for years for the tests, but changed to the short alert tests to let the rotators get fully lubricated (which is also why there's a silent test for the rotating sirens after the audible test).
