Madison County Siren Question

Anyone know why Madison County Al Does Short Alert on the Sirens?
Jessica. Wishes To own these Sirens: Whelen 2800 or 2900, FS 2001 DC, FS MOD 2008 and A Thunderbolt.

Scott can probably answer the question than I can, but it's likely to avoid residents complaining about a "false alarm" whenever the sirens are tested. According to him, they once sounded the sirens for a severe thunderstorm warning, and people here complained about that.
They also used to just growl the sirens for years for the tests, but changed to the short alert tests to let the rotators get fully lubricated (which is also why there's a silent test for the rotating sirens after the audible test).
