I have what seems like a 1920's federal enterprises model 2 but I'm not sure. If it is a 20's model 2 then it is really weird to have 2 brush style usually older sirens from this time of when federal signal was federal enterprises have 4 brushes but my model 2 has 2 brushes some help on identifying what year and about the brushes would be greatly appreciated I picked up this model 2 in Buffalo, NY it was listed on eBay.

Info from the tag on the Model 2 motor.
Serial: 8B12M2
HP: 2
Volts: 220
Amps: 15
Type: 2
Phase: 1
Cycles: 60

I also show the serial numbers and other information in the video.

Here is the video I made of it showing it.

Nice grab! I think your 2 is actually from the early 1950s. That is around the same time Buffalo got their STL-10s which were in the same system (Unless I am horribly mistaken, just making an educated guess here). That would put them at being from around 1952 maybe 1953 as roughly around then is when they went to the current style (with the intake cone, etc.) went into production.

Thanks and you're probably right on 1950's idea if it were older it would have had 4 brushes instead of 2 brushes this info does clear up some things on this model 2.

It's nowhere close to a 1920s model. If it's Federal Enterprises, that limits it to early to mid 1950s (roughly 1952-1955).
