Cool Tornado Siren Find in Algood TN

Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:48 pm

I figured I would share this, just because I thought it was so cool! I was driving through Algood TN a few days ago, and I saw an active Sterling N5. I decided to ask the Putnam County EMA director about it. He said it was used for tornado warnings, and tested with the other county's sirens. Also, there is a Federal Signal 2001 SRNB a few buildings down from the N5. The 2001 SRNB is by the Algood Fire Hall. Here is a picture of the N5:

Sweet find! Very pleased to see they’ve kept this old Sterling operational, especially knowing a 2001 is right nearby. Great photo!

Saw that when I was chasing the TCRM's Fall Color excursion to Monterey. Glad to hear that it's still active!

I know right! Especially since Putnam County only uses Federal Signal! (Except Monterey which has a random whelen ws 1000, but they have a Federal Sign and Signal 5A across the street).

Took some looking around, and I don't think that's a WS-1000. More than likely, it's a set of speakers used as electronic church bells:
