I Finally Figured Out The Type Of Siren In Gordonsville, TN

Sun Mar 17, 2019 10:55 pm

I recently made a post about a mystery noon siren in Gordonsville, TN. I decided to climb the hill to the water tower it sat on. It wasn't a Sterling like I thought, but a Federal Signal Model 7 (maybe a 5?). Also, a cross that lights up on Christmas and Easter is right by it. Here's some pictures:

Wow, I didn't even know Gordonsville has a siren that does a noon blast. Will have to check it out the next time I'm up that way.

Sweet! Love the lit cross as well. Maybe try to get a video of the siren going off sometime. Model Xs seem to be the most common sirens to be mounted on water towers.

Sadly, this siren stopped working last year in spring. You could tell it was sick, because it took a very long 15 - 20 seconds to reach its top pitch. Wish someone would buy it and fix it, because I'm sure it will just sit there and rot. :(
