I seriously doubt that it’s active. The warning never crossed into that zone (the growl thing was a fluke) not to mention I’ve been in that area during testing and haven’t heard a thing. Strong winds can rotate a siren, and since they were present (and knocked down a tree limb at my house), that would be my first thought.

My question is why they would reinforce the blower if they want nothing to do with it anymore. Seems a bit odd they would do something like that.

So a siren near my house was malfunctioning last night. I believe it was the one located at Godown dog park. I don’t have a good recording because I only got the wind down since my dad don’t notice it for a while. The county was apparently doing maintenance on it earlier and they said it malfunctioned the night before as well. (According to Nextdoor)

Edit: I’m gonna say it wasn’t godown park actually. Someone in Worthington said they could hear it clearly. Maybe it’s the one at Fire Station 27. All I know is that it was 560hz but I’m not sure what FS27’s 4004 has.

I live down in the Meadow Grove Estates area of Grove City, and thankfully I don't believe that we've had any down here. I remember one night a couple years ago where I could hear one off in the distance accidentally set off in high-low, but that's about it for any accidental and/or abnormal activations I can remember here. I also thought that the activations during the 5/18 tornado warning were quite odd as well (those "growls" instead of three minute activations), but it sounded like for the 6/10 warning on my side of the county, things were back to normal.

Oh wow. Yes, I live just south of there but the siren was pretty far away. I seriously hope we don’t pull a Dallas TX and end up with 2001s. Or worse, no sirens at all. The problem is it’s really hard to trace. Usually I don’t mind tones in videos, but now I can see why they’re bad. I also don’t think this has anything to do with the “growls” in that warning. There was a time where a siren went off in hi-lo in UA randomly, and another time I heard one in Wail during a warning.

So the prankster would have had to have the radio equipment to set off the tones? The Channel 6 story mentioned that someone would have to be very close to the siren, probably standing nearby.

Hope they catch the guy. Next you'll hear people say "Get rid of the sirens!" if this keeps happening.

Yes, from what I can tell it’s way too easy to set them off. Hopefully Whelen will update its security somehow, but yeah, some will complain if they set them off too much, especially since they’re the ones paying for them.

Does anyone know which siren it was?
