New Siren System in Cleveland, Oklahoma

Wed May 27, 2020 4:49 pm

My friend just sent me these pictures of one of the sirens being installed in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Before they only had 2. Now they have 13 new ones. Apparently one of the old ones wouldn't shut off after a test so I guess they decided to upgrade and expand the towns coverage. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Interesting! They definitely look like an array of electronic speakers.
Architecture preservationist. I enjoy obscure history and mapping things, and grew up around sirens. Not planning to own one.

Those are very tiny speakers! Maybe some homemade contraption like the Custer sirens? The controller (if that's even what it is) looks very small.

They sort of remind me of the new ASC Electronic Speaker Arrays. I wonder if it's some sort of knockoff of those?

Apparently they are called a IntelliSiren and they’re made by a company called Techtrol in Pawnee, Oklahoma.

Could you or your friend possibly get a recording?

We will definitely try. Hopefully they will give some notice in the future. They tested on May 19th but only some of them and did not specify which ones or the times.

Has anyone that you know heard them? I'm very curious to hear what they sound like.

What are those? They look custom made.
