Help Locating a Siren

Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:38 am

Hello, yesterday I was at the Chemka Pool in Hastings-on-Hudson and I heard a Whelen siren do 3 pulses of air horn (everybody around me was going crazy, saying it was the purge). Anyways, I assumed it was a fire call because fire truck sirens came after it, but it seems all nearby fire departments have either a Model 2 or no siren. So... would anyone help me find it?

...naturally I'll pitch in too.

It might be near that water tower. And that's funny how everyone went crazy XD

I'd say check near the fire departments. I'll look until I find it.

I found a Model 5 and a Whelen. https://www.google.com/maps/@40.9954159 ... 384!8i8192
It must be that one, I'm sure there are not many other Whelens in the area. I'm surprised it's on the town hall/courthouse whatever it is. I wouldn't expect a lot of that in NY. But yeah, considering the fact that I heard the air horn tone, that must be it.

Okay... so I recently was in Hastings again and learned that there is another Whelen. I heard one do 5-6 pulses on air horn, then I was able to record the ambiance of another siren (I was too slow to record the closest siren). It was pretty easy to hear, but prolonged after the nearest siren finished. Then, in the evening, I heard the farthest one begin fast wail. I was listening to the crickets when I heard that sound that didn't quite fit in. So any help finding the other 1-2 sirens?
