Chicago`s old system?

Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:37 pm

I have been wondering and researching for a while now to try and find out what happen to Chicago`s old system. I know that their only a few sirens left from their old system, thunderbolts and some stl-10s but thats it. I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to Chicago`s old system? If they were scrapped or are they just laying on the ground at a authorized area.

Okay. Here's what I know.

As most of us know, today Chicago's system consists of Modulators (Mostly 6024s) and a variety of 2001s.
Quite a few of the old sirens still stand, including these:

The system was put in place "as international tensions rise". Most of the new sirens did not directly replace the old sirens, and have an entirely different purpose today, that being weather warnings. Chicago's system is notorious for their use of Alternate Wail.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.
