“Rare vertical HOR” in bingen?

Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:27 pm

My first post, just activated my account. So I live in Oregon, and the map I use( https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewe ... =0%2C0&z=2 , a really great map) says there is a siren in Bingen(near white salmon along the Colombia), and the siren is a rare vertical HOR type. I was there recently on a trip to Washington, and got some pics. It looks like a model 2, but on a model two the bottom two shrouds are closer, and on this the top two shrouds are closer. It is very small so I am wondering if it might be a type 92 with a modified housing. Here are the pics: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0BHX2wJ ... BUg#Bingen. If someone could confirm the type, that would be amazing.

It's a Fedelcode Model 2. The earlier models had the top two shrouds closer and the bottom farther. There are many picture and even a Fedelcode map, if you wanted to see for reference.
They're really nothing to sneeze at. Sorry if I burst your bubble.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

Any chance I could get a link to that map?

Nice to see a fellow long lines nerd!

That's not a Fedelcode. It looks like a regular 2 to me, albeit older (a long leg, or pre-1953 judging by the housing)
24, and not dead yet.

The Bingen siren is a Model 2 that was recently restored. Up the hill in White Salmon are two 12-port Model 5’s.

That Model 2 isn't a Fedelcode or HOR, its a pre 1953 Model 2 or early Federal Enterprises model 2. Seneca Missouri has one of these and ironically its one of the first sirens I found in person.
