1988 Singapore Civil Defense Force ACA Factory Tour

Sun May 09, 2021 8:01 pm

In 1988, the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) began the search for a nationwide outdoor warning siren system. Throughout that year, they toured various siren companies across the world and in the United States. This included Whelen, Federal Signal, and Alerting Communicators of America to name a few. Ultimately, the SCDF would end up going with Hörmann for their siren system. The following photos are from the ACA tour.

1. Dale Moeller explains the electronic siren controller to members of the SCDF including Efraim Petel, who is now president of Alerting Solutions Inc. 2. Members of the SCDF are taken up to the roof of the Milwaukee County courthouse to view the Penetrator 50.

Dale and members of the SCDF taking a look at some unfinished Alertronic sirens, additional fiberglass parts for rotational Alertronic sirens can be seen in the background.

Honestly, where did you find all of this stuff? (I wish I found this before I gave my school presentation on him. However, this is great!)

Imagine if Singapore decided to go with FS or ACA instead of Hormann!

Apart from a Thunderbolt 2000 (no info on location, if you do a search you'll see SuperBanshee and 500AT mention this), no American sirens (known to date yet) made it to Singapore.
I love Yamaha Music Sirens.

Awesome pics! It's so cool seeing those now vintage sirens all lined up brand new.
